What are the inner scapes of a flower made up of ? Light and matter and structure and earth and water. All of these are ever in a state of flux within the botanical body that contains them. That body, that container for a system for sustaining life, is itself an impermanent form. It is subject to time and place and atmospheric conditions. The intangible element of light is what gives energy to all the rest, and what sets a vital rhythm. Here, it is the representation of what resides within. It demonstrates that which is essential and which gives form, even if it has no permanent shape of its own. Each flower can be considered as a tiny torch, a bearer of light that helps illuminate the spaces we can’t always see.
